What is Trauma?<\/h2>\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

You may not name recurring patterns of pain in your life as a symptom of trauma, yet the majority of human beings have had unexpected experiences that are deposited\u00a0 and remain in the autonomic nervous system.\u00a0 Trauma is how the nervous system responds to any life event, not necessarily the event itself. Each of us are different, and life events affect each of us differently and the traumatic memory is stored in each of our bodies.<\/p>

Within a traumatic event the body experiences a surge of intense energy as it is charged to \u2018Fight, Flight or Flee\u2019. When the body is not able to fully \u00a0complete this natural\u00a0 survival response mechanism, the energy freezes inside of our nervous system,\u00a0 damning the flow of our Life-Force energy. \u00a0This \u00a0immobilized energy may appear calm, cool and collected on the outside, yet inside a person may feel an undercurrent of \u2018revving energy\u2019.\u00a0 This \u2018rrrreevvvv\u2019 is akin to having the right foot\u00a0 on the brake, simultaneously the left is\u00a0 pressing down the accelerator. This\u00a0 polarizing tension creates various symptoms of trauma.<\/p>

The good news is that our body and psyche are divinely endowed with an innate impulse that is always directed\u00a0 towards health, beyond our trauma,\u00a0 and into trust and connection. To feel this impulse we begin by learning how to listen to the wisdom of our body. The survival response of \u2018Fight, Flight or Freeze\u2019 needs to complete itself to restore regulation\u00a0 in our nervous system.\u00a0 When we tap into our inherent resiliency and find the\u00a0 keys to unlock our symptoms and suffering,\u00a0 doorways to\u00a0 surprising\u00a0 solutions fly open.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
